The northwestern coast of Michigan's LowerPeninsula will be the setting for the Village Idiots Cycling Club 2025 out-of-town bicycling exclusion this coming August 10-15. Brilliant aquamarine waters of Lake Michigan dramatically frame miles of back roads in the “land of many little bays.” This tour begins and ends in the self-proclaimed “Cherry Capital of the World,” vibrant Traverse City, MI. Tour highlights include Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and an optional visit to Michigan’s crown jewel: bike-friendly Mackinac Island.
Organized by Carolina Tailwinds, this private tour is essentially an all-inclusive vacation (excluding airfare) with all breakfasts, four lunches, three dinners, great ride snacks, and hors d'oeuvres most nights. It includes five nights at boutique inns and a complimentary shuttle from Traverse City airport to lodging at Hotel Indigo, as well as luggage transfer between the two different hotels and a return to the airport late Friday afternoon.
The terrain is flat in spots but does include some elevation gain each day. Cyclists will encounter a mix of rolling hills, with some short hilly sections, & flat terrain, making it accessible to all abilities. This 6-day tour offers routes of 25 - 60+ miles each day (your option). As with all Carolina Tailwinds tours, you can take the van to "leapfrog" ahead on the route and tailor the ride to your needs.
